Shashi Bhushan Institute
Dr. Shashi Bhushan Institute of Education which was initially known as Hailakandi B.Ed. College was established in the year 1996. Prof. J.B. Bhattacharjee, 1st Vice-Chancellor of Assam University Silchar inaugurated the college on 15th July/1996 in presence of by Sri Sahidul Alom Choudhury, the then P. & R.D. Minister, Govt. of Assam. The Thrust for the formation of the college was the zeal to work for the betterment of the society through the training of teachers for professional preparation as well as through various welfare activities. A trust in the name and style as 'Foundation for Education and Social Welfare Hailakandi, Assam' was formed to run and manage the college as well as to do welfare activities.
When we started our academic session we had face lot of troubles in the path of growth and development of the college. We had the confidence with us and we kept on moving set aside all those obstacles and ultimately got the status of its present form of Dr. Shashi Bhushan Institute of Education.
It is the result of 18 years of growth and experience. During this course of time our college has been visited by distinguished personalities and educationists. The college has been the place of interaction by Dr. S. K. Laskar (Geo-physicist), DGM ONGC Dehradun (R & D); Mr. H. K. What we dreamt of our college, it remained our perseverance for the development of teacher trainees. In respect of academic achievement, physical assets, resourceful faculties, staffs and college development fund we have acquired a unique status.

College Magazine :
The magazine entitled “The Mirror” is the expression of our will and dedication towards the society. Since inception we have been trying to replenish this magazine is thought-provoking to spread the benefit of education to the masses in one facet. And in other facet, it becomes an academic hub for the trainees, alumni, faculties, guests, distinguished personalities and educationists for expression of their intellectual ideas.
